Prague – captured us forever

Just recently we visited Prague for the first time and discovered how beautiful this ancient and romantic city is, while also being modern and friendly. Usually we don’t do sightseeing, but I think a walk across the Charles Bridge is a must, together with thousands of other tourists ;-). And we loved to visit the Jewish district and the old Jewish cemetery. Highly recommended!

We chose the Buddha Bar Hotel for our stay and were very happy with it. It is a great hotel located in Prague’s old district, so the interesting places were very close. Our room was wonderfully furnished with a colourful Asian style and a large bathroom with a stunning dragon mosaic bathtub. The Siddhartha Café was splendidly designed. I loved having my breakfast in these colourful surroundings and I can recommend the breakfast, especially pancakes with maple syrup.

We love strolling around a new city without planning the day and seeing what will happen.

Usually when we travel, the most important thing to us is to find excellent restaurants and nice cafes. Because I’m the holiday planner, it is my job to find these great places. During my research I discovered a very nice blog called Taste of Prague. Zuzi and Jan run this amazing food blog and if you plan to visit Prague, make sure to have their Prague Foodie Map with you, or try their Prague food tour, which I’m sure it is an amazing experience.

We discovered some wonderful cafés,bistros and restaurants during our stay and I will tell you a litte bit about our favourites:

Original Coffee – great coffee and an extremely delicious chocolate cake. The interior is a little sparse, but young and casual.

Café Savoy – great coffee as well and a large selection of pastries. I wasn’t able to choose only one, so instead ordered a little selection. Fantastic! The interior is incredibly stunning well worth a visit!

Bistro No.19 – a little place for lunch. You will only find one menu here but it’s quality not quantity that matters. There are only a few tables, but we got one twice. Designblock 15 opens only during lunch time. Highly recommended!

La Finestra – great Italian food and wine. The interior is nice and cosy, but you need a reservation. It is a very popular restaurant.

Divinis – a high-end restaurant with an elegant interior. The food was delicious and we spent a great evening there.

I’m sure we will visit Prague again!

  1. Hi! I love café Savoy, and ate there “too many” times in 2015 when my husband traveled to Prague three times. The food is so great (like the Carrot Restaurant and duck leg), the cakes are stunning (ah, Dorte Savoy), and the prices extremely low.

Did you try the mexican restaurant named “Kantina”? If not – you should try next time in Prague!

Thanks for giving my stomach butterflies when I saw your pictures (I can´t read german)…..

    • Hi Maren, I’m happy that you like the Savoy Cafè too. Thanks for your nice comment. You can read the post in English ;-), just have a look in the top right corner of the blog.

      • Oh, than I will look at the english versions, thanks for telling. I will keep on to visit this blog :) And you are very welcome to have a look at (which is both in norwegian and english too). Have a lovely day!
