It finally occurred yesterday evening! The long-awaited Peter Lindbergh exhibition opened in the Kunsthalle Munich. The Vernissage was overflowing with the crowds, as though people were expecting a pop star. And no wonder! He is not only a brilliant photographer, but also an incredibly sympathetic person, as we could make out from his introductory speech.
The exhibition – From Fashion To Reality – showcases his artistic work from 1978 till today and is divided into different sections. My favourites were the Dance section, with the wonderful Tina Bausch and Madonna; the impressive Darkroom; the Icons section, showing all the superstars from my youth; and, of course, the Supermodels. His pictures of models like Naomi Campbell, Linda Evangelista, Kate Moss, Christy Turlington, and Tatjana Patitz are world famous. They emerged from anonymity and became the Supermodels through his photographs. I was so thrilled by the exhibition that I am already planning a second visit to enjoy Peter Lindbergh’s amazing work in a more peaceful and calm environment.
