I cannot stop photographing and my favourite motifs are interiors, decoration details … and my dog. Those of you who visit my Instagram account know what I am talking about. Well, during all these photo shoots, I have discovered many beautiful design products. These include the wonderful kiondo baskets by Mifuko. Do you already know them? I saw the Mifuko baskets some time ago in Sabine’s shop, Room To Dream, and I initially found them quite nice but know became a huge fan because they are so cool.
As well as the Finish/Kenyan story behind them. The baskets are designed by Helsinki-based designer Mari and Mina and handmade by Kenyan women in rural villages. As a certified World Fair Trade company, this work allows many women to earn money regularly and thus support their families and farms.
This is a fantastic combination of Nordic design and Kenyan craftsmanship. The kiondo baskets are a great way to store our favourite pieces perfectly, like plants, blankets, bathroom accessories, etc. I like their simple but quirky style. What do you think? What use comes first to your mind? I am happy to show you some of my Mifuko images and I hope you will like these beautiful baskets, too
