Every year, during the IMM Cologne furniture fair, a guest of honour is chosen to create the installation ‘Das Haus’, which simulates the designer’s idea of a residential house. It is an experimental playground to create their vision of modern living.
This year the German designer Sebastian Herkner created his own concept of a modern home. Built as a circular installation, transparent and opaque at the same time, he uses textiles to build the walls and divide spaces creating a soft and airy environment. It feels like being in a cocoon! Every room, except the bedroom and bathroom, seems to float without edges or boundaries. To furnish the house Herkner selected favourite design pieces, exclusive fabrics and wonderfully designed wallpapers.
Sebastian Herkner works and lives in Germany. He is well known in the international design scene and he collaborates with some of the biggest companies like Moroso, Gubi, Fontana Arte and Nya Nordiska.
